Journal Description
Safety Engineering of Anthropogenic Objects is an interdisciplinary open-access journal published four times a year. The journal publishes original research on the safety of human-made technical facilities, particularly buildings, infrastructure and industrial structures.

The journal is committed to scientific quality, transparent editorial procedures and responsible research reporting. Each submission undergoes an initial editorial assessment. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s formal and scientific requirements are evaluated by independent reviewers under a double-blind peer-review procedure.
The Editorial Team works with reviewers whose expertise corresponds to the subject of each manuscript. Accepted articles undergo editorial preparation and professional English-language proofreading before publication.

All articles are published in open access. The journal does not charge submission or publication fees, and access to published content is free of charge.
Authors are encouraged to make the research data supporting their findings openly available in a recognised research data repository whenever this is legally, ethically and technically possible.

Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts must be written in American English and prepared using the journal’s current manuscript template.
The manuscript should contain the following elements:
- title;
- abstract;
- keywords;
- introduction;
- main text;
- acknowledgements, where applicable;
- declaration of interests;
- references;
- appendices, where applicable.
The manuscript should contain between 20,000 and 35,000 characters, including spaces, the abstract, footnotes, references and appendices.
The manuscript must include an unstructured abstract of between 100 and 300 words and between three and five keywords.
The abstract should clearly state the purpose of the study, the methods applied and the principal findings or conclusions.
Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
Authors must use the journal’s current manuscript template and follow all formatting instructions contained in it.
Tables, figures and equations must be numbered, referred to in the text and prepared in accordance with the manuscript template.
In-text citations and the reference list must follow APA 7th edition style. DOI numbers and stable URLs should be included wherever available.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript is original, that all sources are cited correctly and that permission has been obtained for any copyrighted material reproduced in the article.
Author Information
The submission system must contain complete and accurate information for all authors, including:
- full name;
- institutional affiliation;
- email address;
- ORCID identifier, where available.
One author must be identified as the corresponding author and must provide a current email address for editorial correspondence.
Authors should disclose all sources of research funding and any actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest.
Anonymous Manuscript
The journal applies a double-blind peer-review procedure. Authors should therefore submit:
- a complete version containing the authors’ names and affiliations;
- an anonymised version containing no information that could identify the authors.
Identifying information should be removed from the manuscript text, acknowledgements, references, footnotes, file name and document properties. Where a self-reference is necessary, the designation [Author] may be used.
Submission
Safety Engineering of Anthropogenic Objects uses the Open Journal Systems platform to manage manuscript submissions and the editorial process.
Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s website. Submissions sent by email or by other means are not processed unless the Editorial Team has expressly agreed otherwise.
Before submitting a manuscript, authors should confirm that all items in the Submission Preparation Checklist have been completed.
Initial Editorial Assessment
Each manuscript undergoes an initial formal and editorial assessment before being sent for peer review.
During this stage, the Editorial Team verifies whether:
- the submission is complete and has been prepared using the current manuscript template;
- the manuscript falls within the journal’s aims and scope;
- the article meets the journal’s basic scientific and editorial standards;
- the manuscript is written in sufficiently clear English to permit a reliable scientific assessment;
- the manuscript complies with the journal’s ethical and bibliographic requirements.
A manuscript that contains correctable formal deficiencies may be returned to the authors for revision before further assessment.
A manuscript may be rejected without external review if it falls outside the journal’s scope, lacks sufficient scientific merit, contains serious methodological or substantive problems, or does not meet the journal’s fundamental editorial or ethical requirements.
The decision on whether a manuscript should proceed to peer review is made by the Editor-in-Chief. Where necessary, the Editor-in-Chief may consult an appropriate member of the Editorial Team or another expert in the relevant subject area.
Manuscript Processing
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment are screened for text similarity and possible plagiarism and are then sent to two independent reviewers.

Authors are expected to respond to all reviewers’ comments and to submit a revised manuscript together with a point-by-point response explaining the changes made.
Manuscripts requiring substantial revisions may be returned to the original reviewers for further assessment.
Language Editing and Editorial Preparation
Accepted manuscripts undergo editorial preparation and professional English-language proofreading.
Authors are given an opportunity to review and approve language corrections before publication. The Editorial Team may also introduce necessary corrections relating to spelling, punctuation, grammar, style, formatting and consistency, provided that these changes do not alter the scientific meaning of the article.
Editorial Decisions, Complaints and Appeals
The final decision on acceptance or rejection is made by the Editor-in-Chief after consideration of the available editorial assessments and peer-review reports.
Authors may submit a reasoned complaint or appeal if they believe that an editorial decision resulted from a procedural error, factual misunderstanding, conflict of interest or unfair treatment.
