All submitted manuscripts undergo a clearly defined editorial procedure based on double-blind peer review. The journal cooperates with independent reviewers who have relevant expertise in the subject area of the manuscript.

Safety Engineering of Anthropogenic Objects is an open-access journal. Neither authors nor readers are charged any fees. Authors are also encouraged, where appropriate and legally permissible, to make the research data underlying their articles available in recognised open research data repositories.

Manuscript Preparation

A submitted manuscript should contain the following elements:

• title;
• abstract;
• keywords;
• introduction;
• main text;
• conclusions;
• acknowledgements, where applicable;
• funding statement;
• conflict-of-interest declaration;
• references;
• appendices, where applicable.

The manuscript should contain between 20,000 and 35,000 characters, including spaces, abstract, footnotes, references and appendices.

The manuscript must include an unstructured abstract of between 100 and 300 words and between three and five keywords.

All manuscripts must be written in American English and submitted in Microsoft Word format.

Detailed formatting requirements are provided in the journal’s manuscript template . Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts using the current version of the template. Manuscripts that do not comply with the basic formal requirements may be returned to the authors for correction before editorial assessment.

Submission

Safety Engineering of Anthropogenic Objects uses the Open Journal Systems platform to manage manuscript submissions and the editorial process.

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s website. Submissions sent by email or through other channels will not be considered. To begin the submission process, authors should use the submission option available at the top of the journal’s website.

Manuscript Processing

Professional English-language proofreading is carried out after the manuscript has successfully completed peer review and has been accepted for publication.

Authors are asked to review and approve substantive language corrections. The Editorial Team may introduce minor editorial, grammatical, spelling, punctuation and stylistic corrections that do not alter the scientific meaning of the article.

Initial Editorial Assessment

To ensure an efficient editorial process, every submitted manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment before being sent for external peer review.

At this stage, the manuscript may be returned to the authors for correction or rejected if it does not meet the journal’s formal requirements or falls outside its aims and scope.

Minor formal deficiencies may result in the manuscript being returned to the authors for correction. Serious deficiencies, repeated failure to comply with the journal’s requirements or language quality that prevents reliable scientific assessment may result in editorial rejection.

Manuscripts that meet the formal requirements are assessed by the Editor-in-Chief with regard to:

• relevance to the journal’s aims and scope;
• originality and scientific contribution;
• methodological and substantive quality;
• clarity of the research objective;
• reliability of the evidence and conclusions;
• adequacy and currency of the literature used;
• compliance with publication ethics.

Where necessary, the Editor-in-Chief may consult a Section Editor or another member of the Editorial Team with relevant subject expertise.

The final decision on whether a manuscript proceeds to external peer review is made by the Editor-in-Chief.

Authors may appeal an editorial decision if they believe that it resulted from a factual error, procedural irregularity or failure to consider relevant information. The appeals procedure is described in the Code of Publication Ethics section.
