Abstract

The article presents an analysis of lane change by a three-axle special vehicle equipped with a water tank, designed for activities related to the suppression of manifestations, in the context of operational safety. The aim of the study was to assess the impact of the tank filling level on the dynamic behaviour of the vehicle during the lane change manoeuvre, which in operational conditions can be carried out suddenly and at increased speeds. Measurements were carried out for different tank fill levels – empty, partially filled and fully filled – by analysing lateral acceleration, body roll and track stability. Particular attention was paid to the phenomenon of liquid movement in the tank, which causes temporary changes in the position of the center of gravity and generates additional tilting moments, significantly affecting the lateral stability of the vehicle.
